Hello mighty org - I've forgotten how to put labels onto the horizontal axis of a graph. At the moment I have an axis that has 1, 2, 3 etc up to11. I want to replace this with years. For example should become 1519-1600, 2 should become 101-1650 and so on...its a basic line graph plotting numbers of a specific category over a time period...
Help appreciated...I am a dunce. ![]()

I think there's an option somewhere you need to change from continuous to discreet

yep...tried that...there wasn't an option to actually rename the points along the horizontal axis though...I have however been able to swap things around so that I have a group of series' each of a different colour that allowed me to place a name of my choosing down the side like a key...i'm sure this makes perfect sense to everyone reading it lol!

Is there not an option to rename the axis in the format graph box
or step 2 of the chart wizard under the tab series? |

Did you use a graph/chart wizard thingy whassit?
It's been a few years since I used Excel but if you used the wizard then the raw data should be sitting somewhere in the spreadsheet. If you look at the raw data you have sitting there, I do believe that if you change whichever points need to be changed in there it may transfer directly to the chart/graph. Or if it doesn't then go through the wizard again. Keep a saved copy of what you've got done already though. So incase anything you do doesnt work, youve still got your base from which to start again. Maybe save another copy by going through Save As... and have that copy as the one to work from and the other as a back up. That way you still have one of the original which you're not playing around with and changing. |

put the values in a column
in 2007 you go to select data and i am sure there is an option to select the axis label values. |
