Title says it really. I'm getting pretty close to knee down territory. I'm dead certain I can do it. It's just a barrier of fear of me wearing Draggin' Jeans with knee armour inside. What's everyone's views on getting knee down with such apparal on my legs?
Falling off wise, they're up to the job, I'm sure else they wouldn't be marketing them with such claims. But will I be nursing a sore knee after a ride out with them and getting the knee down? Or should I most definatly go out and grab some leather trousers with sliders? |

You'll go through the denim, which isnt anything better than a regular pair of jeans, maybe rip the aramid (kevlar stuff), and damage the the armour. Way to get through £100+ just to say you got your knee down.

Guess that answers that then. I wasn't just looking to say "Yea I did it". Twas kind of a stop myself before I do it accidentally. I'll look around at some leathers. I didn't think the jeans were the best idea for it, but thought it was good to check anyways.

You could always get some strap-on knee-sliders - I know you get them to velcro on, so a leather pad, strapped over your knee, with velcro on it and the sliders on that. Tho TBA if you are riding hard enough for knee-down, leathers aint going to be a bad thing.

Hmmm strap on knee sliders would probably look a tad silly on a pair of jeans. Not a bad idea for the short term if funds get limited. But generally leathers are probably the way forward seeing as I do ride that way anyway. Didn't think I was going to be riding like I do sometimes when I went and bought the jeans. Still they're not a bad purchase. They should do their job should they be needed on a little run up the road and the worst was to happen.
Is it essential that leather trousers with sliders zip into the jacket? My jacket has a small zip for something round the back, but I mean small. It doesn't go round most of the jacket, just a foot and a half, give or take, worth of it round the back. Or should I definatly go and look and a complete 2 piece that all goes with each other and zips into each other? |

Knee armour over the top of draggins....ooo yeah, go on we'd all like to point and laugh
![]() Draggins are a great purchase, I've worn them for years and done a tour of France in them, but I wouldn't get my knee down in them. I've had a friend come off at 60 in them and done nothing but rip the pocket off the bum, which was stitched back on.....but I wouldn't purposely wear them out. As for leathers that match? No need for zipping them together if you can't, I've done many a year without matching ones before I converted to mismatching textiles ![]() I've got a mismatching set of leathers for this year again, but I'm lucky as all HG ones seem to be interchangeable.
