I dont belieeeeeeve it ... Just bought a 1999 650 S and the mirrors give me a great view of me bloody elbows at all times and not much else ...
How can the mirrors be adjusted ? The actual mirror unit at the end of the stalk does not feel like wants to move and I'm not certain if it is even supposed to .. The mirrors fold in and out to prevent damage whilst parked, but they do so on some sort of cam under the rubber boot - but the cam only has one position in which the mirror is 'locked ' into place ... As the bike was designed and built to a budget in the first place, I am not surprised by the above, but still ... Any ideas how to achieve adjustability to the mirrors ?? Thanks guys , appreciate your help |

The heads are adjustable on the original mirrors. It may be that they haven't been since 1999 and have seized into place. Google "Chewys Stuff" and look at his site. He does extenders which may help.

Grab the body of the mirror in one hand and the stem in the other, to stop it folding in, then adjust the position of the mirror. They do move but they're quite stiff.
And +1 for chewy's extenders if you're still not happy. |

They do move, mine were the same but managed to fre em up, they are very stiff i assume so they don't move with the vibration of the 'V' twin motor

TBH, I've found that the mirrors on my 2011 SV are great for views in blind-spots either side, or of my elbows. Finding a happy compromise between each is proving a tad difficult atm, and have chosen to opt for the "blind-spots edition" for now.
