Default K4 SV650s Height Question.

Hi All,

I recently purchased a k4 sv650s and I would just like some information on bike height. I wouldn't classify myself as being a small person - about 5'10 I would think.

While sitting on the SV I am on my tippy toes (prob the best way to say it) so it seems that it is higher than standard. I am just wondering if there are any benefits to leaving the bike at this height or should I look into lowering it back down slightly? For instance, is handling improved with having the bike higher or am I not gaining any advantage and would be better to lower the bike so that I have better ability to keep feet on the ground when stationary, walk the bike backwards, etc, etc

As this is my first bike and as I'm new to the whole biking scene - I'm just looking for the best advice from fellow experienced bikers as to the best way to have the bike setup so my learning curve would be improved.

Again - as mentioned I'm new to all this so if pictures would assist in identifying anything or for extra clarification, let me know and I will organize getting some pics up later

*** Just noticed my spelling error on the title - should have been "height" - wooooops - back to school I go....

Cheers

Some pics of the suspension linkage would help us tell you if it has been raised.

Extra ride height does help the handling, but so long as the front has been uprated.

Howdy Chris - thanks for the quick response.

I will work on getting some pics later so for uploading...

Will take some pics around the rear shock and linkages - not sure if anything has been uprated or anything but you may be able to tell from images!

I sat on a Curvy yesterday (I think there is 5mm difference between the pointy/curvy) and I was on tippy toes.

But I'm 5'4.

So sounds like yours has been raised, unless you have a really really short inside leg!

I take between 32-34 leg in jeans - depends on manufacturer though as they vary. Usually a 32".

Will take some pics after work and upload...

Need to clean the bike a little first

Sounds like someone fitted a jackup kit (dog bones perhaps) or shock.

I would avoid riding it untill you have cleared this up. If something has been modified, I'm sure it wouldn't go down well with your insurance company.

Howdy,

Here's some over-exposed shots - forgot to change the camera settings - taught it was on 'Auto' for some strange reason and only spotted it after I had the bike back off the Abba stand and was back inside. Too lazy to retake them

It does look like it has been risen as the rear wheel is just about off the ground with the new abba stand.

So next thing to do is to see what I need to get to lower her if it is the best thing to do from looking at the pics and prob look at upgrading the shock while I'm at it and maybe the front springs.
