Default Some advice please on tyre pressures and preloads

Relative newbie here so bear with me if this sounds stupid.

I'm a bit confused about the tyre pressures anyway - book says 33psi front & 36 rear, bike says 36psi both - and I''m thinking about trying to get the suspension set up for me as opposed to "average rider". I'm only 5'8" and under 10 stone - should I be running slightly lower pressures because I'm not very heavy and has anybody got any thoughts on whether I should go softer or stiffer on the preload settings. Bike is a SV650S K2 and still seems to be at the factory settings of 6 at the front and 4 at back.

All advice gratefully received

It talks to me in quiet moments.

OK, not entirely true, there is a rating plate on the nearside rear arm which has recommended tyre pressures for front & rear, single rider and with pillion. All options are 36psi.

At 12 stone I've been running 33 front and rear.

I can't see that a persons weight should affect tyre pressures any real amount when there's a huge amount of other stuff going on (including a 180kg bike!).

I think it's mostly down to personal preference.

IIRC I used to go with 36/36 on my pointy.

From the sound of it there isn't really a wrong/right. I think I'll have a play, maybe run it for a week at 33 front & back then a week 36 front & back and see how much difference it makes. I've got a couple of good bits of road that I can do every day to compare the difference.

Thanks guys
