Hey sv riders i was hoping for some advice/tips on whether i should go ahead with purchasing the mivv full exhaust system for £350 and a k & n air filter for my sv650s pointy k6 fully faired. I've owned her about a month now and was planning to add these on to her in 1-2 months time. i was wondering will there be a good performance gain in adding both? Cheers

no gain but a tiny better throttle response.
don't bother with a full MIVV and get a slip on instead. i have a full MIVV system and i don't like the power curve so i stick to the standard pipework with a slip on can and relegated the MIVV to the shed. i personally think the SV has more pep with the standard pipework. only get a K&N if you plan on keeping the bike for a long time as there is no gain apart from £ if your planing on keeping the bike for 40k+. don't believe the hype its all marketing bull. so with the saving you can give the bike a nice full service including the callipers etc.etc. or lots of go juice. your not going to get the SV any faster unless you spend serious amounts of wonga so instead like it for what it is, a nice every day V-Twin. if you want to make the bike better then save up and spend the cash on suspension as this is where the SV is seriously let down. |

short answer, both bits of kit are good additions, but you arewn't goling to get anything but minor gains.
Longer answers, changing the air filter will save you money in the long run, but we're talking 30,000 miles or so, slightly better breathing, but as the K&N is a direct replcement it's made to be close to the standard filter. the Mivv exhaust is well built and a full system will improve the exit of gases, but a remap wpould help make the most of it, in fact you may find on the standard map it makes little difference, although if you currently have a standard setup, you'll save a fair amount of weight and let out an awesome sound. Cheers Mark.

Im going to go for the x-cone mivv system with the moto gp style exhaust slip-on. also, I will take my time and think about the k & n filter. I just cannot wait to let the gases out freely and hear the v-twins roar out! Does anybody know where I can purchase the slip-on for cheaper then ebay? cheers guys

Actually the custom gp pipe off ebay from the states for about £80 is slowly growing on me. I heard it roars up to 105 db
