Default Front wheel alignment

Hello org,

Ever since I got my cuvey taking the front wheel out and re-fitting has been a right chore.

When I come to re fitt the wheel, the speedo drive, hub and top hat spacer will not fit in the gap without prising the right fork leg over.

Once the wheels in, the discs line up with the calipers perfectly (I've even checked the distance between the wheel rim and the fork legs and its the same either side)

What worrys me is that I have to force the leg over?? Surely not right?

I've tried undoing the pinch bolts at the bottom of the right fork leg and pushing the spacer all the way out and then fitting the wheel, but I then have to force the right leg over to get the wheel to sit central to the forks and nip the pinch bolts up before tightening the main axle.

This suggests to me the forks are bent but they work fine( and have done for 6000 miles).

I've also measured the gap between the forks top and bottom and there the same ( suggesting they are straight) as well as turning both forks around in the trees to try and spot any bends. found anything?

The only conclusion I can come to is I'm missing a spacer or I have the wrong spacers/wheel?

I've uploaded a few pics of said wheel. Can some one confirm the axel arrangement Is correct?

Take the wheel out again, put the spindle back in but don't tighten anything, make sure the clamp on the right fork is properly loose and the spindle moves freely in it, loosen the clamp bolts on each fork in turn and spin it round by hand, if it it's bent you'll see the end of the fork describe a circle.

wait, you're removing and refitting the wheel without loosening the pinch bolts?
no wonder you find it difficult then.

try this: pinch bolts loose, move spacer out of the way, insert wheel, insert and tighten axle,
tighten pinch bolts. all will end up in its right place.

Will try it but I'm sure I have done this and the wheel ends up closer to one fork leg than the other??

you probably don't need a new leg. just get it straightened.
