Default Missed your chance with Google's Street View?

Well now you can have a 2nd bite at the cherry pie. It's not Google though, it's their rival Bing (Microsoft) with Navteq. I believe Microsoft are doing their own take on Street View and the car is currently roaming around London. I was on the A10 heading towards the M25 when it passed in the opposite direction near to Southbury Road.

This is the car to be looking out for.

My word. I dunno if they're doing anything different to Google but it seems crazy that they will drive around exactly the same streets all over the world again.

Did you think Google would let them use their images without mahooooosive royalties? In fact they'd probably refuse point blank.

I don't really know why they are doing it. Unless they are going to offer something really special surely people are just going to use Google like they do now. Wouldn't it be better for Microsoft to put their minds and money towards something Google hasn't done and persuade people over that way.

Competition is usually good for the consumer - some of us remember how expensive BT was in the days before Mercury Communications started to break their monopoly for instance. And just how expensive would O2 be if it weren't for the other netoworks...

Will be interesting to see if the new service will be better. I use Streetview a lot to plan journeys so I wonder what we'll be getting from MS to justify the duplication of effort and money.

Take someone elses good ideas and totally fook them up!
You'll probably get a MS-Earth Bluescreen! Sorry there seems to be a problem with your planet! Cancel, Retry.
