Want to hear everyone's 2p worth. Looking at moving house to an area that would mean ~70 miles per day commuting, pretty much all motorway.
That means a change of bike, as much as I love the CBR, I couldn't subject it to such mileage! I'm still young so not ready for a pipe and slippers bike but want something that can eat miles (and not depreciate like a stone as a result), can handle winter and still handles well, goes well and isn't too heavy on fuel (not a massive concern, just nothing that drinks it!). So far have looked at a BMW R1200GS / F800R or Triumph Street Triple (as an all rounder). Guess I'm looking at a £5-6k budget. |

Looking for something newer, I like the newer VFR800 though. Especially the white one they do at the moment, I'll add that to my list.

Shame the new CBR600F only came out this year...bit too new really
Do you want more of a sit up bike or a half way house sports tourer? How about a Kawasaki Z750? I've always like the look of those, especially in green!

Take a look at a Triumph sprint ST, it will eat that sort of mileage and can be thrown round the lanes in good style as well.

Don't go and read ukgser if you are considering a GS. You'll **** a brick at the tales of woe and running costs. ie extended warranties! WTF?
Two naked bikes? For 70 miles of motorway through winter (or even our wet summers?) ![]() ![]() Was going to say zzr1400 as you can get an early for 5-6k. Will cream the m/way and has a huge tank for keeping away from fuel stations when its ****ing down and baltic and you just want to get home. But a viffer I'll bet, will do just as good but will survive winter better and be a little kinder to your wallet...and of course sound better all be it a lot slower. Ok...Blackbird is my twa penith. ![]() |

I would say no to any nakeds on the motorway in winter you'll regret it, but the ZZR1400 would be my choice, they hold their value, go on forever, faster than almost anything on the road with decent protection and still sporty.

New shape Fazer 1000. Good long distance machine/tourer and quite a weapon when you want it to be at playtime.
