Hi guys,
I'm new here and after trawling through previous posts on tyres (took me ages!), am still looking for some advice/tips on which tyres to fit for a Knockhill trackday on my SV650 SK6. You seem like a helpful and friendly bunch... ![]() I'll be riding the few miles there and back (hopefully) so track only tyres are out and I guess there's a fair chance it'll be coooler and/or wetter than you guys running at Brands or wherever are used to. Bike's got braided front hoses and sintered pads, plus a few cosmetic upgrades (tho I have plans...). Was thinking Viper Sports (or Supersports if I gamble on the weather)? Any thoughts or suggestions? Cheers in advance, MICK.. |

When's the TD?
Knockhill is normally wet. Whats states you current tyres in/ what are they? I'd be inclined to kill whats on there then put new on afterwards Failing that a pair of Pirelli scrubs will put you back Max £60 fitted (loose wheels)

Trackday's July 9th. Am hoping for non-torrential conditions, but you never know up here.
Bike's got knackered D220s on just now - if I wasn't doing a trackday, they'd be getting pulled off anyway 'cos they've gone a horrendous shape, even for road use! Been having a bit of trouble locating non-main dealers to supply and/or fit tyres round here, I have to say. Wondered about scrubs - easy to come by? MICK.. |

Ebay or seeing your based in Edinburgh go to the club meets either at Knockhill or East Fortune normally some knocking about go with hard cash and don't be afriad to barter a little bit.
Have a look in the for sale sections i think toot's got a pair of new michelin track tyres up atm on ebay things like this, but look for the badly listed items http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Pirelli-Diablo...#ht_1093wt_820

cheers for the tip. Used to run Supercorsas on my VTR for trackdays (dead now) but they were mince in the wet. Or I was mince at using 'em, one or the other..

A road legal slick is crap in the wet unless you know what your doing and can ride hard enough (aka dry pace/ speeds) to keep a stupid amount of heat in them (impossible in the wet).
If your wanting something that will last a bit after being run round a track, look at tyres like sportsmarts, BT016, michelin powers, pirelli or Metzler's (same company)
