Default e-bike insurance:

Just carried out a mid-term policy change. Took off one SV and added another of higher value and no additional cost not even an admin fee.

I found E-Bike to be excellent but expensive. As you say changes no problem.

I also put them to the real test with a claim. Handled professionally, cheque within a week of the engineers inspection at a correct valuation.

In fact my house/contents insurance is with e-house. My son had his van with e-van.

I have always found them excellent and competitivly priced. Spoke to one of their Directors a couple of years back at the Thundersprint and did not just come out with pr blurb. I like the way you can list all your modifications and also check if changes are going to cost anything. I have had problems in the past with Carol Nash when I have carried out mid-term changes.

I have been with e-bike since I passed my test 3 yrs ago. My excess is £500 I think but I don't mind because of my age and the fact that they give me good service and a competitive rate otherwise!

I attempted to chnage the bike on my policey from a 125 to a sv650s(Restricted) The wanted an additional £600 for 5 month insurance TPFT (£1000excess) which was unbelieiveable, then they were offering me 12month insurance for £334 if i was a "new customer" which made no sense at all. Therefore have to pay the cancellation fee then retaking a policey. (MCE insurance) (I Have 2 years no claims) For this point I left MCE and went with bikesure.

Maybe Its just my age they feel they can take the mick? xD

It is simple, they don't want your custom. Sounds harsh, but despite your couple of years no claims they judge you to be a liability and therefore load the policy. In avoiding higher risk riders they can reduce policy costs to lower risk riders. sounds fair to me.

Same experience as timwilky here. When I had an off, the customer service with e-bike was excellent and once the engineer had written the bike off the cheque was with me within a week. The valuation was exactly what I was looking for as well, which in my eyes is something I worry that insurers try to screw you over with.

Good experience with them means I'll definitly stay with them.

I have my CBR on ebike cos it's on a Q-plate, it's on a seperate zero NCD policy because when I tried to put it on with the other bikes with e-bike, they refused to accept my NCD proof, after I had paid in full for the policy, I sent the proof 3 times which clearly said "proof of no claims entitlement" and they kept refusing to accept it, sent about 20 emails and got the same word for word script each time, eventually tried cancelling the policy and they wouldn't let me do it, it was only after I sent another e-mail reminding them of the distance selling regulations and mentioning the FSA, they gave me my money back. Why they needed physical proof was beyond me when they could have just checked with my previous insurers like my car insurance broker does and my previous bike insurer had done.

E-bike would be so much better if you could actually speak to somebody human instead of waiting days for an e-mail.
