About the only cosmetically bad part of my recently acquired 1999,"Curvy" was the peeling face on the Tacho/Rev counter.I've learned it's been quite common problem.
I read this link that has useful info http://www.antun.com/sv650tach/ But as it's in America the cost and also most likely getting charged import and or getting lost in the post I decided to try and make my own. I found a decent image on Google pictures but it didn't print at the right size so after quite a bit of cheap Printer paper and measuring against the clock I got it to a usable size.I also had to darken it my old printer is not too good. Before: ![]() After: ![]() It's not as good as a,"Pro" job and I reckon would be better done on a laser printer but it's way better than what was on. Before starting I started the bike and let it warm enough to not use the choke and took note of my idle revs.I knew I would need this to reset the Needle after I had done the job.Mine was at 1400 Rpm. I used a fork to get the needle off very slowly and carefully,be patient.I left the stop pin on(Didn't want to damage it taking it out) and placed the new decal at the back and used dill bits to ream out the holes and a thin snap blade knife to trim. I used the same thin blade knife to scrape the old decal bits off the face. I didn't have any suitable adhesive I wanted to use so used four small tabs of double sided tape to bond the new decal. I had to put on and pull off a couple of times the Needle until I got it sit back at 1400 Rpm with the engine running at idle.Once happy stopped the engine and refitted all the Clock gear. Here are a couple of links to the edited decals for printing out.One normal and one darkened, http://i.imgur.com/FRM0DLh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZmbzOFL.jpg Here's a picture on the bike in a Dark/Night light and it can still be read fine, ![]() Hope this helps anyone who may come up across a similar problem ![]() PS Got some glossy photo paper from Wilkos supermarket/shop 6"x4" to print on.Matte may be even better for under 3 beer tokens.

Looks nice & I like the R logo addition. A vinyl decal shop could have probably done something if you'd taken the image to them

Yeh I like that logo as well ![]() I think a vinyl decal shop could do a good job but at least we have a half decent correct size image if needed. As it only cost me some photo-paper and a bit of printer ink I'm quite happy with it for now ![]() I had to do something as it was bugging me on such a nice example of an SV650 Curvy. Also good practice on how to get to the clocks etc if I need to replace a bulb.
