back end skittish

Ok folks im wondering if you can hopefully shed some lighton something that may or may not be in my head.





On the ar i had a little “moment” where by the back endstepped out on me. It was a little damp as you may remember. Since then ive hadit step out on my twice (again in “damp” conditions) and its always around aleft hand bend. Usually im riding at a good pace but nothing nutterish!



So the alignments right and the tyres are sound so any thoughtson what to look at? Apart from myself that is? I had it up on the stand theother night and rotating the rear wheel it sounded rough. I thought it could bea wheel bearing or something but i cant get any play out of it at all )12-6 and3-9 positions so can anyone say whether its worth the hassle of replacing thebearings? Im thinking its more than likley the chain making the noise aroundthe rear sprocket though.





Soo any thoughts? its fine in most circumstances tbh could just be the road getting slipery after the rain as i do lean more to the left.

Id start with a dam good clean and lube of the chain check for any tight spots as they make a hell off a noise.

I take it as its only happening at speed whilst putting some lean on give tyre pressures a check aswell.
Then take it out and try to determine if its road surface ( damp, oil, road chippings ect? ) or the bike thats playing up.

Ive had a few moments recently but put it down to the odd weather and damp oily roads in the mornings.

You haven't got a Scottoiler ( over)doing its thing on the tyre, Andy?

Binned the scottoiler already. Doesn't happen in the dry as far as I know. Pressures are within 1 psi.

As said, if theres nothing on the actual tyre, chain or bearings sound the likely culprits.
Is the rear shock ok?

sticky/dragging rear calliper?

I had the same sort of thing happen to me on the Sprint ---Remedy was a major front and rear shock overhaul. How many miles and how old is the rear shock as it is surprising how they become "soft"gradually over time without you noticing

You had one when I was behind you. If this is the one you meant, then you ran over some sh!te (mud/gravel) on the road mate, just as you went on the throttle.

This is probably a duff sugestion so dont flame me... rear wheel bearings? Its just it happened to me a few times then I got the bearings done and it hasnt happened since...

sooo yes it could be the shock, ill need a replacement racing shock to keep me safe right? (if only i had the money )
