Hi Everyone,
Newbie Q here…. So bare with me J I’m the proud owner of a well looked after very smoothly running 02 black curvy, bought about 4 weeks a go. I’m new to biking (and this site) but have a question about performance changes when fitting baffles….the bike I bought came with a Blue Flame oval twin outlet exhaust (which I think sounds amazing!). When I bought this little V twin beastie the baffles were left out, in fact the previous owner had never had them fitted from when they got the new exhaust put on. So I thought I’d try them out to see what difference in sound you actually get when fitted. I put in the top baffle tube to begin with and to be honest it didn’t sound a great deal different, I then added the bottom (smaller outlet) cap…..with this in it sounded terrible, really high pitched so removed it immediately. Decided to leave in the top one as If I did get pulled then at least the main baffle is present. Took her out for a test ride and couldn’t believe how different she felt, changing up and down gears was very jolty, there seemed to be a small loss of power too so I went back home and took the baffle out again. Went on another test ride and she was perfectly smooth again through the gears (up and down) and felt more punchy. My question is, should flitting the baffle make so much of a difference? Does it affect the balance of engine or carbs (???) and if you do fit the baffle do you need to get the engine or carbs rebalanced to perform properly? Sorry for the long winded description but was curious to find out what might cause the difference. Cheers guys Matt |

I have a k3 pointy with the same end can on as you and can't say I notice that much difference in either smoothness or performance with the baffles either in or out. Slightly more vibey when out is all I can say.
