Hi peeps,
Once again I'm looking for advice from the sv gurus here. A while ago I fitted a gsxr 1000 shock in n it's been fantastic hOwever my mate has mentioned that my bike sits lower than my original. N with pillion it's even lower ( surprise surprise) Just wanted to know if this is normal or if I need to make any adjustments to it???? Please don't be too technical about it otherwise won't know what your on about HAHA Cheers.. ![]() |

Do you know what year the GSXR shock was? Some of them are a bit shorter than the stock pointy shock so you'll lose some height. If you can identify the year we'll know how far out you are.

That's what I have fitted to my pointy. I was under the impression it's the same length as the stock SV shock.

According to Che's table on the rear shock megathread it's 5mm shorter than stock. I can't remember the ratio exactly but that's maybe a 10-15mm drop at the rear?
If it's dropping alot further under weight, to the extent that your mate can see it's sitting low, the preload setting might be out too, further exaggerating the effect. Have you tried measuring rider sag? |

yup its about 2-1 so 5mm will be about 10mm at the very rear (taillights) i also seem to remember reading somewhere that the SV has a progressive linkage where the GSXR has linear.

I haven't measured the sag but will do. I'm thinking of trying tO adjust to see the difference.

Yeah measuring sag is a good start.
Yes the pointy linkage is progressive.

Hi Peeps,
Just had a go at measuring and what i have measured (From bottom of swingarm to crease line on the rear fairing. No-one on the bike and it reads 22.5 Inches. When i am sat on the bike it drops to 21 Inches. Is that right or do i need to make some changes? ![]() Thanks |
