Default Exhaust re-sleeve?

Who can do this to a Blue Flame twin exit oval can?

A friend got one for her birthday and got a friend of hers (former bike mechanic aledgedly) to fit it to her bandit (Ok, not an SV but at least it's a Suzuki), Previously this same person had fitted a new chain and sprockets set, along with a few other jobs... every one of them bodged

The rear spindle nut is on the Can side, so back to front and has damaged the can, god knows what the link pipe was for but it didnt fit very well and the hanging strap is too small and has pinched the can, the bloody thing is only 1 week old and it looks terrible. Somone had the idea to try to straighten the strap and re form it round the can for a better fit... and numbnuts here was stupid enough to try it and cause further damage so I feel responsible and have taken it upon myself to sort this out. Today I fitted a new link pipe, its better but the other issues need addressing and a proper gasket in the collecter box.

None of the exhaust can companys I can find actually advertise this service but the Carbon Can co are literally 2 miles from my door, I think a visit is called for.

Have you tried contacting Blue Flame to see if they can supply a new sleeve? If it's riveted at the ends like most cans, it's really not that hard a job to change.

Blue flame have told me that the exhausts are internally welded and can not be re sleeved, they will not sell me a sleeve seperatly, but they will do a like for like replacement for cost.

CCC can't re sleeve it either, thier oval sleevs are a smaller diameter.

Still not a cheap fix but better than paying retail.

Give Mark Hill at MHP Exhausts a call, he's working out of Phil Seton's (Seton Tuning) place in Colchester from what I can make out. He's done exhaust repairs for me in the past and every one has been 1st class.

Or alternatively can you just not fit a sleeve on top of the existing one to cover the damage

A couple of our meutual friends have clubbed together with me to split the cost so Blue Flame's kind offer of a replacement for cost price has been accepted.

Thier customer service is some of the best I have experianced recently, CCC also deserve a mention for the way they showed me where they assemble the can's to give me an idea and explanation of what was involved.

Dicky Ticker, the main problem is that this can is bigger around then average, I will be trying to get the damaged can once it is replaced so I can try to repair or even stubby it, on her bandit it sounds gorgeous... I was actually surprised.

You could try A16 based in Swaby, Lincs. www.a16roadnracesupplies.co.uk

Is yours a 120mm sleeve? If so they'll do it very easily as that's the size cans they normally build. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to get one from them if it's any bigger as they have to get someone else to fabricate it, mine's a 140mm, took a good few weeks.

It might be making an appearance on my SV, or in the for sale section once repaired.

Thanks for the link, they will be worth a call and probably easier than my museings regarding a carefully made plywood former and rubber mallet...
