Help. I have been away and havent ridden the bike or started her for 4 weeks. I come back today to start her and I get a message saying CHEC, I have lights but no green neutral light or the fuel pump kicking in.
Could it be that the battery has run down low. I do have a GIpro gear indicator and I seem to have read that it does draw a small charge. I have connected it to a trickle charger. I have noticed that people say to check the connections. Which ones? The battery terminals are all fine. I have checked the kill switch, she is in neutral as well. Do you reckon it could be the battery? Will i need to reset the chec message or will it clear if the battery gets charged enough? Any help or ideas would be most appreciated. Scarey |

If there is nothing when you press the starter then check the ignition fuse.

Isn't CHEC only usually there when it's in gear and the side stand is down? or if the kill switch is engaged?
Have you checked either of these minor things? it happens to the best of us if it is either of those! |

Yep tried all those. The kill switch is 100% in correct position, its definitely in neutral.
However the strange thing is the neutral light is not there and I have no power going to my gear indicator either. Where is the ignition fuse? It wont turn over, completely dead although I do have lights. |

Sounds like some kind of fuse then. Curvy or pointy?

sorry to hear that dude, sounds very likely that it is the battery, they can soon drain with no use. trickle charger should do the job eventually, but if you wanted to test if it is the battery, you could connect it back up to the bike, remove your car battery and connect them up with jump leads! hit the starter and see if you have success?! your lights could still light up from what very little charge you have left. my fuses are located under the seat, but i have a curvy. good luck

Ok, all sorted. I gave it 5 hours of trickle charge. I then decided to take out all fuses, clean and replace. Checked all connections I could see and get too. I then thought I would go up and down through gears a few times just to make sure it was sitting in neutral correctly. Put it all back together and hey presto. Now I dont know which one of the things I did actually got it to work. If I was a betting man and knowing my luck it was probably the simplest which was going up and down through the gears, but I did check that first. Anyway thanks for all the help and advice. Looks like I will get to ride her tomorrow after all and I can do so knowing that every single connection is right, and the bttery is lovely and charged. happy days!!
