Question Horn

Hi all,

I wanted to find out if anyone has replaced the standard horn with PIAA slimline sports horn on his SV. I've got a K6 SV650S and have had it with the factory horn . It bothered me from day one I got the bike. And after 5 years, I am finally looking for a replacement that would get the attention of car drivers. I've read great reviews about PIAA Slimline Sports Horn but wanted to find out if anyone has used it on SV and what their experience was; was it easy to install? Dont see much space behind the radiator; so if anyone has a better suggestion about a replacement that would easily fit in the same spot and sound better, please let me know.

Thanks,

Looks ideal but can't find any for sale in the UK, only in the US. Would be interested if you know a UK supplier!

Emailed PIAA UK and got this reply, looks like the Slim line model is an import job:
Currently we do not have the slim line in our range and do not have it planned (sic) for the European market.
Sorry we could not be of help.

If you get one (from Amazon?) - let us know what it's like to fit and the sound. I hate the standard horn too. I think I could shout louder (if I had an open face helmet!).

I put a Stebel Magnum on mine

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stebel-Unive...5579479&sr=8-1

It's quite a bit bigger than the OEM, waayyyy louder & fits nicely where the original one was. Nice deep note as well instead of the roadrunner meep meep.

I've got a naked K2 so not sure how the fairing would affect the fitting.

Stebel Nautila Compact

Was riding thru the docks at Belfast to get on the ferry, truck tries to reverse back and hit us, i give him a quick blast on the horn and he stops! I'm happy with that.

Pulls up in the line and the biker next to me says " Did you see that bloody truck trying to kill us and he had the cheek to blast his bloody horn at us!"

Think that says enough!

I made my my dad spill his tea when i gave him a demo of how loud it was

Bit of a PITA to fit, had to make a bracket, but well worth the effort.

+1 but you can split the horn from the compressor easily.

My compressor is under the rear seat & the horn is in the fairing. Less of a PITA to fit it then

Google it

I put a couple of Stebel Magnum's for about £16 and all I can say is they make me jump on the bike (yes, I'm wearing earplugs).

http://www.classicsagogo.co.uk

I was talking about them to a friend after a rideout section and his reaction was similar. "I heard those but I was looking for a truck and couldn't find it" )

I put the relay where the stock horn was and wire'd it into the battery. Horns are bolted onto each radiators mounting screws as can be seem in the picture. They are hidden behind the fairing.
