Default Hey Bluepete, lend us a fiver.

I think I'm going to become a copper. What is a daily routine for a police person? Wake up, drive to work, play in fast cars and bikes for a few hours then return home. I must be close.

I wish I could earn that sort of money doing that.

You missed all the paperwork, bull**** and dealing with w**kers that goes with their job. You'd have to pay me a lot of money to do that.

I read that and thought surely it would have been cheaper for them to not be understaffed and just employ someone to cover those hours?!

Is this an extreme exception?

So they get to spend half a day inside filling in a few forms, drinking copious amounts of tea and eating cakes.

It's not a job I'd do for their money, I wish all our emergency services could be paid more.
Trouble is if they nick someone 30 mins before the end of their shift don't they have to stay on in OT to do the paperwork ? Over a year I bet this adds upto a bit.

HAH!

I wish!

The limit of my overtime is a football duty on a bike once in a while.

As for staying on to deal with prisoners, nowadays, we have to hand it over to the next shift.

Fatal RTC's used to be an earner until one Sergeant took the urine and had his entire relief on double time, day after day. The bosses changed the policy after that.

I think I get a fair wage. I don't have a degree and went into the job with no real qualifications. Yes, I do get a fast car or bike to play out on, but as said, the **** we deal with can pi$$ you off a fair bit. Then again, many jobs are sh1tty.

As for lending you a fiver, we'll discuss interest rates!

Yes - in order to have earned that much overtime it is unlikely that they can remember what their partner or children look like!!

Do the OB still get to retire at 55 on police pension. That's the best benefit surely. Not that I'm counting the days till retire at 67 or whatever it will be by then.

Thirty years service and bye-bye!

Google regulation 19 and see how much they want old cops.

I'll be going at 55, then on to other jobs using the skills I've picked up. I couldn't be without something to do for a decade until Mrs BP. retires.
