Hi .org
i joined up when i was researching what to get as my first bike back in may. really useful site and look forward to meeting some more SV riders. so i decided on an SV as my first foray into biking. i searched around and found a cheap curvy that needed a little work.( service, chain & sprocket, front wheel bearing) i thought it was a bargain at £1500 from my local bike shop. i then completed my DAS course which i really enjoyed although the gs500's were falling apart. i was quite paranoid about the swerve for mod1 as so many people had been saying it was dangerous etc. but i found it quite easy. unexpected emergency stop in the wet on my mod2 not so easy or fun ![]() after i passed i fell in love with the sv. it rode so much nicer than the gs500 through the corners. the extra power was a bit much for a week or so then the throttle started opening up. i knew i was hooked when i was taking the bike out when it was raining during the summer telling myself "it'll clear up". then one day, all of a sudden there is this car lurching out of a junction 5 metres down the road. luckily i just pulled away from some lights so was going about 25. there was no way out. not enough time to stop and only a brick wall to swerve into. i hit him about 15mph and went flying over the car and landed hard on my shoulder then rolled up the kerb with my back. i was happy to be alive and non confrontational but wish i'd given the blind idiot a piece of my mind. he was 'waived out of the junction' ![]() net result torn ligaments in foot and knee lots of bruising and a sorry looking bike. i'm off the crutches now, walking normally and have just bought another SV this time an 05 with lowers, alarm, hugger, double bubble and yoshi exhaust in black. i pick it up on wed and cant wait. so i'm left with a cat c curvy and i'm not sure what to do with it. i could either sell it on as spares/repairs, repair it and sell on the cheap or fix it up a bit and use it as a track bike? damage is as follows, fairings front and back badly scratched, clutch lever broken, left handle bar bent, gear selector and back brake snaped off, crushed front exhaust header, big dent in tank, both left indicators missing. not a scratch on the frame and the engine is where it should be. also the front end didn't take any impact and looks as it was before. also the yoshi doesn;t have any baffles in it. will i get away with this as the can has all the stamps?? |
