Default Don't touch Remax Bellshill, Motherwell, Shotts

RE/MAX are all independent agents, so I don't want to tar all with the same brush, but don't touch these offices, owned by Archie Love and Andrew Love, with a bargepole.
  • Failed to report essential repairs required when the house was rented, that could have resulted in structural damage to the house
  • Only secured half of the required two month deposit from the tenant before they moved in, despite strict instructions not to let the tenant move in unless the full deposit was received
  • Had to chase them repeatedly to arrange a gardener, eventually ended up driving up from England to do it myself and was shocked when I saw the state the gardens had been allowed to get into. It took 25 hours work from myself, Kilted Ginger and a neighbour to get it looking presentable. Far from me chasing them, they should have been calling me and refusing to let another prosective buyer look around until it was sorted. An ex colleague who drove past to check on it for me described it as "looking like a gypsy encampment".
  • The neighbour who holds a key has had to do a couple of viewings, because he's found people sitting in cars awaiting an appointment, but the agent does not turn up.
  • Cannot ever get an answer out of them on progress with prospective buyers "Oh, I don't know, I'll have to phone them and find out!", I'm talking simple stuff any agent should be asking, like have you sold your own house, or following up on a buyer that expressed an interest in making an offer
  • Wife phoned and asked them to take it off the market, they hung up on her
  • As a parting shot when asked to post the keys through the letterbox, they went in and removed the for sale board from the window, and left the house unlocked with the keys lying on the hall floor

Not meaning to jump to Remax's defence as it sounds like you've had an awful experience.

But whilst working at clydesdale steelworks a couple of years back, I rented twice in bellshill over a year. The staff at the bellshill office, specifically Ann, were outstanding in accomodating me. This included checking up on the property whilst I was home for holidays and hand delivering invoices after telephone payment.

Like I said I'm not denying whats happened to you and I'm seeing Remax as a buyer/renter rather than seller, but from my experience I would use them again.

I'm sure those renting my property were more than happy with RE/MAX, I would be too if I only had to pay 50% deposit.

Beware promises from a crop duster----

I have just had dealings with a estate agent in Cornwall[Truro] and I have never dealt with such incompetence before. Perhaps Cornish mentality is different from mine but when you are paying somebody to act as your agent you expect some sort of service for your money, not for them to start acting for the buyer.
They were so bad that I instructed our solicitor to with hold their fee till a discount was negotiated and when I spoke with the senior sales director based in Newcastle he was so taken aback with what they had done he had no hesitation in giving me the requested discount.

Good agents are hard to come by in my experience.

I think there are agents like this in every town Ralph. Theres one here in Hx. Its called Redwoods. I've had terrible dealings with them as a tenant some 12 years ago, and they still hadn't changed their spots in recent times, this time to the disadvantage of the house owner.
