Default Diesel victim

Yes, I have unfortunately had a runin with our old friend Mr Diesel, and not even the nice macho Vin kind either.

Pootled through a town centre this very damp morning, roads are greasy as owt and I've noticed there's loads of the stuff everywhere, slewn across roundabouts etc. so I'm naturally a bit more careful to avoid it. Come out of the town centre to approach a roundabout onto a busy bypass doing less than 10mph and I take my eyes off the road in front of me for a second to check for cars coming from my right and BAM, I've been slammed on the deck and the bike's skidded down away from me a few feet. I jump up, realise I'm in a lot of pain but hobble to the bike to turn the engine off. Take a few moments to lean on the tank as my ankle's killing me. In the meantime a LOVELY chap*** in the car behind moved straight in to help, we get the bike up and onto the pavement. I check it over, speedo's cracked - I feel my purse flinch - and the gear peg snapped off - Mr DavieSV with his fixerpegs straight into my mind, why haven't i got one! Crash bungs did a fantabulous job.

***Mr Zenon Los, I salute you sir.

We wheel the bike over to the other side of the road with a plan to take it to the nearby petrol station and wait for recovery - yes I could have ridden it back in second gear but I didn't fancy it being a bit shook up... and we've paid for it so might as well use it. Next thing I know there's sirens, someone's called the police and they were there in minutes, credit to them even though not really necessary. Then another cop car....then an ambulance...then a fire engine - clearly a quiet day for our emergency services! Someone had obviously rung up and said "Motorbike accident on bypass roundabout" and everyone had suspected the worse, VERY thankful they weren't needed. If I'd have been going much faster bike or I could've carried on into the path of a car on the roundabout.

The girls in the ambulance wanted to check me over - first time in the back of a nee-nor (while conscious anyway ) - ankle pain had completely subsidedthen the one of the nice police chaps walked alongside me while I rode/wheeled the bike down the station.

Long and short of it, I'm ok, was recovered in an hour and a half and had a nice brew and a doughnut in the meantime. I've got a very sore leg and my neck is a little sore but should be fine. My lid, weise jacket, hein gericke leathers and oxtar boots are not even scratched, it was like skidding down an ice rink so no surprise.

Hey ho. It happens but I can think of better ways to spend my day!

Funniest thing was the recovery chap at the end. We get to the house and I had warned him of the rather steep drive.

I said I'd take it down. He wheels it to the top, looks down and says "Bloody hell that is a steep drive, I'll let you take it down I think." To which I replied, "It's fine, I'll do it." He says, "What and crash it into the garage door?" I says, "I have to do it all the time, it'll be reyt"..he watches me take it down and I hear a "Blimey" before he moves off back to his van

Made me chuckle anyway!

Sorry to hear of your downfall MYC and at least you're in one piece and undamaged

Your off sounds very much like how RAF fell off on the AR rideout, one second he was on the next he was off sliding down the road.

Nice hot bath to aid those bumps and bruises

Bikes fix indeed

Cops said a biker had reported the diesel further down the road earlier in the day. When we went past the scene in the recovery van later on they'd put sand down of some description at least.

Bad luck missy, but at least you and bike more or less in one piece. I'm glad it wasn't worse.

Here's hoping the bumps and bruises heal up real soon and that you don't feel sore tomorrow.
