Hey Guys,
So I bought a PCv and had my bike dyno'd and mapped at PDQ yesterday. It was running quite lean above 6k so they made some adjustments mostly to the higher range. Took the bike home after and had no problems at all, bike was smooth and I could notice the difference. HOWEVER, start her up this morning, and within 5 minutes of riding the red light on the dash comes up with the "FI" warning. I stop, turn bike off, turn back on and the warning disappears. This happened several times on my way to work. I haven't noticed any difference in the ride and it certainly doesn't feel like there is anything wrong. I just called up PDQ to enquire what it could be and he's advised me to check the error code using the "Dealer Tool". They think it might be the lamda picking up the extra fueling and thinking there is a problem. Since the error is not permanently on, can I ride with the Tool in place so that when the light comes on it will display the error code? Thanks. |

at a guess is your bike a k6>
dealer tool plugs into the loom and will display fault codes on the dash. No need to ride with it in. |

^ as above works perfectly fine on a road bike.
anyways you have it done now. You need to either get it sds checked at a dealer or do it yourself to see what fault codes are comming up, if you get stuck with working out a code PM me. Using the dealer tool you have wont bring up stored codes though, only what the current showing code is. If you do it and the bike isnt fault coding then it wont show. The SDS software downloads every code that has occured, at what revs, temperature etc so is better for diagnosis. Richening the fueling wont cause the fault code via the Lamda sensor. It is possible to bypass the lamda and remove it altogether and pin out the ecu so it no longer looks for the lamda. Thats something we do on bikes running full systems. Thanks SV650Racer, I really appreciate the help. My ride home was fault free
![]() Talking about blocking out the lamda and pins on ECU, I was told by PDQ that they could not map anything in the 3-6k range due to the lamda and ECU overriding anything they map. Thinking I'll take a ride down to your shop sometime soon and have a chat. |

No probs. Outside temp wont cause an FI fault.
Also the lamda is a narrow band heated oxygen sensor, it doesnt run closed loop so only compensates a very small amount, not enough to effect the mapping. The PC5 works by interupting the signal from the ecu to the injectors, not the other way around so the ecu cant overide the signal once its been sent. No probs pop by for a coffee and a chat..I can rattle on though so be aware LOL |
