Default GM 5 - Not the news you wanted!

Guys after much deliberation I've come to the final answer that I cannot take the organisation of GM 5 any further.

Its not a good time for me to be getting stressed about times places and routes, and keeping people happy. Right now what I need is to have a year where I spend my time thinking about my up coming wedding and getting stressed about that.

So all in I'm going to have to take a step back and hopefully hand the whole party on to someone else. I thought it better to say now so it give someone the time to look into taking over.

I will however continue to organise monthly rides.

Please don't hate me (any more than you already do)

*hugs* Couldn't possibly hate you for making that call m'dear.

Hope someone steps up to take the reins.

Personally - given the AR drama - I think someone (or a group of someones) may want to find a site, plan a route, announce a date and say if you can make it great, otherwise it's all going to get bogged down in drama.

A drama free GM would be amazing!

That's fair enough mate.

I've deliberated over helping with it or doing it in previous years, I know all the campsite possibilities, I know all the routes, I could run a rideout in my sleep, and I'd really like to see one done in the East, but I'm just too far away to deal with it if there is a road closure on the route or the campsite pulls out, and I'd also need to know that my wife isn't interested in coming (I can't lead, mark or TEC with her on pillion), which usually she is as it's an opportunity to spend a weekend with Marc & Hazel.

I'm more than willing to lead the ride on the day, I enjoy that part even though I get stressed about that in the days before hand. I've lead every year bar GM3 (which I missed) and every year I've woken myself out of a sleep on the week before the GM in a panic about f*cking up the route. If I'm getting myself to that stage and I'm only leading the actual run I'll be a mess organising the whole thing...

Think you are quite right to prioritise in that way dean. Thanks for the early notice. i've started a thread to ask for volunteers in another thread.

If you ever need to borrow my TomTom Rider for the day on a GM, upon which the exact route can be loaded, and the RAM mount takes 5 minutes to fit, then you are more than welcome. It has a 8-9 hour battery life so it's just the mount, no wiring required. Alternatively you can bung it in the map pocket of a tank bag.
