Question Dirt/ Field Bike Tracks

I'm seeing a good few ad's around for Field Bikes. No V5 or MOT but good for some fun, that kind of thing. I fancy getting one. They seem cheap, I like that.

Ah! I have no field, but I do have a trailer, so I could take it to a field and have some fun?

But I don't know of any fields or tracks that allow this kind of fun.

Does anyone know of anywhere that I could go to and have some fun with a Field/ Dirt bike?

Cheers

speak with specialone, he does greenlaning and may know of some "not public highway" places you may be able to go.

you could just find some local farms and ask the farmer if there is any fields you may use for the day for a nominal fee

Ah cheers, yes I could talk to specialone, but I do live South of Guildford in Surrey it's a bit out of his back yard.

mmm farmers could do, they seem to be a grumpy lot down here, might be the only way though.

I see lots of legal off road bikes on the road, all muddied up having been out off road at weekends, but I haven't been able to find out where they've been.

unfortunately "green laning2 is still in official highways, so requires a legal bike, those routes can be found either from a current ordinance servey map or organisations like the TRF, the reason field bikes are so cheap is the very fact few places will allow them, I used to be friends with some old guys around Horne who had fields, and there used to be a big area at the end of gatwick (Charlwood) we used to play in rovers and such, but I can't remember who the contact was for access, your best bet is probably to try to find a club and they will have sights they use.

Cheers Mark

I'd avoid places where you can use field bikes tbh, they tend to attract yoofs on stolen ones then police hang about.

Buy a cheap road legal one and you can do so much more with it, mine was bought as a dual purpose, winter bike and a green laner.

This on the abr forum is only £700 http://www.adventurebikerider.com/fo...nd-tested.html

I sold my road bike and got a (legal) dirt bike about 2 years ago. Joined the TRF, joined the local club, best biking fun ever.

Cheers Guys,

I think I now realise I have to get a Road Legal one. Shame because as attractive as that one is at £700, £150 for non road legal was even more so.

I've been spending a bit on my trackbike and trackdays lately, I think my Mrs would have a major problem with another £700 on Bikes.

I'm going to do it one way or another this year though. It's just got to be done.

You've missed a trick there, T.I.B.
This year's Exeter Trial started a couple of hours ago, and the last competitor starts at 2.08 tomorrow morning.
Did that & Lands End Trial many years ago on most inappropriate mounts - Maicoletta Scooter and Austin Healey 3000, and they're the most fun you can have. Yes, it's a bit cold at this time of year, but that's the challenge - Lands End is at Easter, which can be just as cold!
Get a roadworthy bike and enjoy.
BTW - how would you get your field bike to South & West Surfers territory?
