Default just blown my exhaust :s

Hey guys ive been reading on this forum for the last 6 months or so and find it really helpful. I have registered as i need some help and have been unable to find an answer already posted.

I noticed on the way home my biker was alot louder and could feel the engine alot more. turns out the scorpion slip on exhaust has decided to break open (where the pipe goes into the can ) and let out loads of wirey mesh from inside the can. My bike only came out the garage yesterday after spending £530 getting it sorted (r/r had gone, new tires, mot, service) and my bike is a old 2000 model with 50k on the clock, is there a cheap solution to mending my exhaust (i can see it can be bolted back together again) as i really cant afford to put a new can on it.

Also on a another note is there a way to adjust the clutch so i dont have to squuze the lever as much to reach the biting point?

its pitch black outside atm but ill take some pictures tomoz when ive got the can off the bike

You should be able to fix it with some pop rivets, sounds like the band holding it together have failed somewhere

But piccys will help with the diagnosis

thanks for the reply, ive been searching on the net about exhausts and i think the stuff that came out is called packing, im guessing if i have slightly less packing now the bike will just be slightly louder? the internal part of the can (the smaller metal tube inside) is still attached to the exhaust its the outer casing thats came apart

Drill out rivets, re-pack it and new rivets. Job done. Just google repacking end can or similar and you'll see how it's done.

I thought all exhausts came with life time unlimited milage warranties? You may want to chat to the manufacturer first.

hey guys, yep casing snapped on rivet, ordered a rivet set and going to drill out old rivets still in place, what type of packing should i use as most im seeing is moto cross?

also im thinking of shortening my can by 3-4 inches, mainly for appearance and also so i have a solid bit of casing to rivet, tried putting pictures up but need to put them as a url first?

Have a look on Ebay for exhaust wadding or packing, something like that

Sorry no, exhausts rot from the inside and outside, although SS takes longer

old packing removed, exhaust and inner exhaust cut down four inches, rivets removed from pipe, and now just waiting for my newly ordered rivet set and packing to come from ebay, its cost £11 in total much more affordable than another exhaust.

later in the week i want to adjust the biting point on my clutch as its so close to the bars and im doubting even with it fully engaged i am completely seperating the clutch plates.

is this a job possible for a novice like myself?

thanks for your help, greatly appreciated
