Default Show us your Thrupenny Bits!

While clearing out a dusty drawer of the wife's junk, we found forty pence in old size ten pence coins and a two shilling coin! Two of the ten pence coins were made in the year I was born too, is it really so long ago that we used coins of that size? I just stuck them in our display cupboard with some of our other collectables, but I do wonder what I am supposed to do with them really?

Spring cleaning, don't you just hate it?

Personally, I'm surprised you didn't find a tuppence whilst cleaning out the wife's dusty drawers.

Are they worth anything?

Spring clean? Blimey...its still winter here...

PS: I thought Dave's post was very funny. Does that make me a bad person?

No Stingo, I just got tea up my nose when I read that

Jaynes 'thrupenny bit' title was quite titilating to my imagination!

Only if you show us your ha'penny

I have loads of old coins from all over Europe and the Middle East along with some notes and don't know if they are worth anything. Current used by the grandkids when playing shops.

I admit that this one got me laughing, although I had to explain to the wife what a tuppence was!

Never mind the draws check the bra's, a lot of women peeps keep money in their bra's, and you can take that to the bank. I carry an old penny in my wallet made in the year i was born

Good one Dave

I'd love to know what happened to the pile of old coinage I found clearing out a house.

I have a tin full of farthings, ha'pennies, pennies, thrupenny bits, tanners, one and two bob coins, and a couple of half-crowns. I don't think they're worth a lot but when I look at them they take me straight back to my childhood.
What a lot of words we've lost from the language when we moved away from imperial coinage.

I went to Yugoslavia in the late 80's when their currency was all fecked up, and you got a wad of notes back for every purchase, each with about 6 zero's on them.
Brought so many back since there was no return exchange, I keep finding them in drawers regularily.
