Question Unlocking an i-phone 4

Hi all,
Just thought I'd throw this out here and see if anyone has any brilliant advice.
My problem is I have an Iphone 4 which is 'locked' to a swedish mobile provider (not so unusual as i bought it on contract through them). While that in itself is not a prblem, I would dearly love to be able to use it in the uk with a vodafone PAYG simcard i already have.
I would like, if possible to avoid jailbreaking it, as I know this voids the warranty.
Is there a simple way for me to do this?
Any help much appreciated!
Charley

Just ask them to unlock it for those reasons.

It used to be impossible to get iphones unlocked but as more providers are providing them they can do it for you. Mine is locked to O2 & I always just used to jailbreak but (in case you didn't know) every firmware upgrade resets the phone & you have to jailbreak again if there is one available.

I know o2 started unlocking them for something like £20 but it has to be done through whoever the phone is locked to so your best bet is to do a search on the website of that Swedish provider.

I should add when I was looking I had an iphone 3g & it was quite a while ago.

Are you talking about actual permanent unlocking or jailbreaking?

as said there are sevral ways.
offical unlock by provider ( free now by most providers )
if not possible i know of sevral websites that do offical unlocks at a cost but only for certian providers.
or depending on firmware/baseband you can use a piece of hardware called a gevey sim.
or unlock cabs from jailbreaking community.

Personally I'd just jailbreak. If one is available that is. I haven't jail broken anything for a while now so haven't kept up.

As for voiding warranty, rubbish. Just don't ever send it back jailbroken, always restore first.

But surely, if its a warranty issue its broken. So how do you restore a brick?
