Default headlight opinions- if you will :)

Below is my SV streetfighter - in the making.
I've been pondering the idea of headlights now for a while and i can't decide.
I want something that looks good, but also lights up the road infront of me well :P.
I'm not sure whether to run one big single round light, or twin headlights.
Last time i asked on tail lights and managed to get a decision from it, so hopefully the same will happen this time, fingers crossed .

ideas people?

This is a problem that we have considered too for our GTR scrapheap monster, what we found on lots of websites was lots of the same cheap Chinese Fairings with lights built in, but barely bright enough to pass a GCSE! I will admit that my preferred choice is the twin Bates style, it is an old idea now, but it still works for me.
These are from here

However, that pic posted by Bbadger is rather pretty.

BBadger - Wouldn't normally go for that, that unit is an improvement on most, but i've always thought they look like they should be under a fairing or something, IMO.
Jayneflakes - they look alright, do you know what the lighting ability of them is? 'Cause like you say, so many are just show pieces and wouldn't light up jack s**t.

Hey Mike,

Just my thoughts but after much faffing about with lighting I've come to the conclusion that one good headlight is better than two poxy ones, or some plastic Alien v Predator mini fairing that won't light your way out of the garage.

Try a single round light, maybe run a highly illegal 100/80w H4 (I'll help with the wiring if you make the tea :>) and see where you're going... or I do have some Gixxer twin H4's that work well with Nightbreakers!!!

Speak to ya on the weekend?

Rich.

If it helps here's a pic of my black naked pointy with black coated twin spots fitted. They are indeed very crap at lighting anything....but i love the look of them.

I kept the original light surround.

Right now I'm sorting the same problem following unscheduled off road excursion

Looks wise I much prefer the round headlight, one decent reflector is better than two small ones. Also, thanks to one or two peeps on here and elsewhere, I've figured out that the old school glass lensed headlights (ie the ones where the lines on glass focus the beam) have one big advantage over cheap, clear lensed like for like replacements. They don't melt, meaning you can up the output of the H4. A friend had a an 07 gix 750 fighter and used an old headlight as described which takes more powerful H4s happily, and focusses the beam nicely so he has plenty of light without blinding oncoming vehicles.
