Default fuelling/exhaust questions.

im thinking of either stubbying my current zorst or using a stubby i have in the shed, but the stubby in the shed causes problems after a while, i imagine to do with the fuelling etc.

so short of buying a gadget deely, how can i change the fuelling on a pointy?

What problem does the stubby cause?

i think over fuelling, it flames and backfires ALOT and smells really rich, then after some time it starts to run really lumpy.

Is it a good seal where the silencer fits on?
If you have a slight blow/leak it will draw air in through the leak/blow and ignite any unburnt fuel.

Does your bike have a lambda probe?

yea the seal is fine, i thought this at first so i rubbed a bit of fairy liquid around the seals and started up and no bubbly bits. its an ART race carbon can.

i have no idea about the lambda probe. and no idea how i would find out lol

I have the same issue. Running a K&N air filter and a Viper can on a K3 pointy.

How ever my exhaust defo blows so that's what i've put the popping down too. If you know anything about altering/ curing the fueling it would be greatly appreciated.

You have to bear in mind there are usually PAIR valves fitted, which pulse air into the exhaust to aid the combustion of unburnt fuel, you used to be able to buy a kit to eliminate these valves......or you can block them off.

This is a normal characteristic when you put a "racey" exhaust on, popping on overrun.

The lambda probes, mine has one buts a later bike, are fitted in the collector section of the exhaust after where the two pipes go into one.

OP, does your bike physically run bad with the different exhaust?

On both of my sv's, they have run fine without a remap or fuelling adjustments with Akrapovic systems fitted.
I had to have my latest system nodded to fit the lambda probe though.

Both of my sv's I remapped.....first had a power commander and remap, my current just had a remap.

with the racey exhaust on it runs fine at first then gradually gets worse and worse, but when i change back to the beowulf, it runs fine all the time.
can power commander remap the fuelling??

They can be programmed to suit your bike/spec. But all they do is intercept and modify the ecu's outputs.

Most people say they are a waste of money and they felt no difference on the bike.......however on my k5 S, I ran that with just the akra system first, big difference, then fitted PC, another big difference.

So down to you to try it.

I can't really see that the stubby exhaust should cause the bike to behave like that.

i have gone from a full length viper can to a 10" micron and it sounds the nuts bangs crackles and pops (FLAMES!!!!!!) but i hasn't changed the running of the bike apart from giving it more power so i couldn't see why you ecu wouldn't be able to cope with the change as we all have the same bike and so many people i know have stubby's
