Hi guyz, newbie here
![]() I'm after a v-twin and quite frankly can't can't find anything suitable bar a ntv650/nt650 or a sv650 ![]() Both fit in my price range, and I would prefer a sv650 coz it's not got a steel frame? Now screw ya faired crap, nudism all the way. So how does the naked compare to the faired for seating position? If exactly the same, how easy is it to get a more comfortable friendly uprighter position? Regarding 33bhp kits, is there a proper guide on here for each model version? The nakled one has higher bars, the faired one has clip-ons, but for me it's a neutral rather than race-rep position. With the naked one you could swap the bars any way you like. It's totally different to the NTV though, that's just dull, so if you want to sleep while riding then get one of them.
Loads of info on here about 33bhp. And get a test ride of anythng you're going to pay actual money for. |

my dad had a ntv as a child, and can't fault the bike.
--youtube-- American naked one has some nice panels for radiator and a mini clock shield. Well certainly set me to go for a naked one, 2003 up I think for the aluminium frame. Just gonna have to restrict the bugger. |

The 99-03 is also alloy frame, just welded not cast. Try both SV and NTV and you'll see what I mean

Much more upright position on the nekkid, one of the main reasons I wanted my S converted. Don't like being bent over (oh dear me...), like being able to see stuff

naked version is more comfortable by a mile - higher bars, and footpegs are more underneath you than behind, so the weight isn't on your wrists. also, you sit more upright, so your visibility is much better, too. i believe there's a comfort kit available for the s to make it slightly better, but personally i think you'd be better off with a naked. yes, there's wind-blast, but i look at that as me being more likely to keep my licence

![]() in all seriousness, i had a serious car accident (flipped several times) which basically left my lower back a mass of scarred muscle fibres. i can't ride the s-version without pain because it's a hunched-over riding position for me, and i'm only 5'6". it's the lower bars and rearset foot pages that does it - cants you over onto the wrist so you're leaning on/toward the tank. the n, on the other hand, has me sat upright, very slightly leaning into the wind which takes all the weight off the wrist, gives me much better visibility, and puts absolutely no stress on my lower back at all. more comfortable than my previous cagiva raptor 650ie, and that was a naked, too. |

I have a pointy S and had ache in wrists during the first 300 miles on it or so. But got used to it quickly and now I find the position comfortable and would not call it any extreme or anything at all.
I just finished my holiday on bike three weeks ago where I've done 3000 miles in 2 weeks (done three times about 550 miles a day) and had no big problem, definitely not in my hands. My but ached and my legs needed to be stretched which I cured by going through villages standing on the bike and/or having my legs rested on crash bungs (chopper style) from time to time. If anything I'd call the bike comfortable for touring ![]() |
