Default Choke question

Hi all,

Quick choke question for ya,

The last couple of times I've started the bike I've done the usual open the choke fully and then start the bike with the smallest amount of throttle. This method fires the bike up straight away no problems.
Lately however, the bike fires, the revs are struggling to rise and when it gets to around 3000 rpm it stutters and dies.
After this the bike will not start no matter what I do?? I flattened the battery the other day trying to start it!!!
I charged the battery and got the bike going with a spray of easy start.
Does this sound like stuck choke plungers??
I may just replace the whole choke assembly and have done with it.

Thanks for any replys 😄

Mine doesn't like full choke, this morning it was pretty chilly (frost on the seat chilly) and it started with out choke but wouldn't idle. It idles fine at 2000 rpm with half choke stone cold.

Sounds like you may have flooded it.

I does sound likely the choke mhanism isn't releasing properly, after checking the plungers do make sure you check the splitter on the choke cable as these have been known to break and only operate only the one plunger.

Cheers Mark.

if you're doing that, get a couple of decent screws to replace the two crossheads holding the plungers in, they are that horrible cheese metal as standard, I always replace them as I know at some point they will cause headaches, for the cost of a couple of £'s it's silly not to.

Cheers Mark

no sorry been a while, would guess at m4, but that's only a guess, I know it's nothing special as I can normally replace from a mixed box of stainless cap head metrics.

Cheers Mark.
