Now then, now then guys and gals #SirJimmy
In my quest for a track bike, I'm currently looking at buying a Polish registered bike. It's 8yrs old and has (Polish) documentation with it. What I'd like to know is:-
Not sure how long the vehicle has been in the UK and whilst I admit, for the price, I could easily turn a blind eye and take the view that as it's just a track bike, it won't need Tax/Insurance/MOT etc and as long as I have a receipt I'm good to go. I'm looking for facts not suppositions, so whilst I appreciate a lot of good Orger's may have a view, I'd like responses that are more fact based than opinion. Thanks in advance! |

Question 5 answers here
http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsP...yType=document I think no vat are payable because its an intra EU purchase by a private individual (you) and its not a new vehicle, so any VAT would have been paid in Poland. No duty to pay but read the public notice first, just to confirm this

To be honest, my biggest worry is the guy's entitlement to sell it to me, whether it's got outstanding finance or if it's been written off etc

Not really sure, it's usually UK bikes being registered in PL.
But yeah, I'll give someone a call and get back here. |

Note when a vehicle is re-registered it normally loses it's insurance/crash history. I.e Bash your Veyron, CAT C, loses loads of value. Export to some european country and register there. Then reimport back to the UK and its CAT C has diappeared when registered under a new UK number. Doesn't make sense with low value vehicles, but something with a high value...
