![]() ![]() ![]() Right, first of all, I'm starting to put the bike back because it's due for MOT soon (2006 pointy). I've recently taken off the 33bhp restrictor kit (inlet blade and throttle stop). I've just switched my bike on and have had two problems. 1. When I put the bike in first, it starts to move even though I have the clutched firmly pressed down. 2. it's impossible to put it back in neutral without killing the engine first. These two problems are probably related to each other and I probably did this myself while I was trying to take the throttle bodies out, because it's never done this before.. Can anyone please help? ![]() ![]() |

Check oil level (over filled?), check clutch adjustment (at lever and under front sprocket cover), check chain tension, do a search - plenty documented on the symptoms you describe and how to do the things I've suggested.

Oil is fine.
What should I look out for at the lever end of the clutch ... and front socket cover? :S Chain tension is fine |

The bike was 100% normal before I took out the restrictor. I'm guessing that I might have fiddled with something accidentally

http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...ght=worm+drive that thread might help, particularly page 3. Lever end is pretty much personal preference (slight slack).

I'd keep it simple and start with the easy stuff, I could be wrong but I see this as a problem relating to the clutch if it still creeps forward when the clutch is disengaged.

Probably just clutch cable needs adjusting, my SV did this and that was the problem. I am not too technically minded but adjusting the cable is pretty easy. You can adjust it a little at the lever but really the main adjustment is under the sprocket cover as mentioned before. There you can use the bolts on the cable or also adjust the worm drive, i.e tighten it as yours is clearly not pushing the clutch rod in enough. Haynes/workshop manual is your friend here

I read through that thread, I'm a real noobie so a lot of the words and terms used meant nothing to me.
Worm drive? front socket cover? :'( |

There we go
![]() It's front sprocket cover, i.e chain and sprockets (the cogs your chain runs on), the front one is behind your left foot peg. You can remove its cover with the 3 bolts (it'll be full of cack) and change the adjustment of the clutch worm drive as per manual spec (or the words of sid squid). There is a good guide on here either by sid squid or Anna, you'll have to do a search and trawl through lots of stuff, I'd say it's worth double checking yours then redoing it at the lever. I have a feeling it may be badly adjusted at the worm and your lever meddling was just enough to disguise this. But then again I iz no hexpert.
