Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I have been riding for about 18 months now and loving it. The bike has been perfect until now. When travelling at about 30mph a scraping/clunking occurs intermittently, it sounds as though it is coming from the front of the bike, and it also sounds like it occurs like a rotational sound (make sense?). The sounds does not happen over bumps so have ruled out the yoke and head bearings. I have checked all fairing bolts. Checked the oil level. Adjusted the chain within tolerances (new chain and sprockets fitted 100 miles ago). Ive had the front up and span the wheel, the only noticeable sound comes from the close proximity of the pads, which is fine. Any other options? Thanks for reading this! Andyc87 |

Rust on disk, stone caught in caliper, front wheel bearing, brake pads worn to metal, disk warped ( would cause vibration when lever pulled)

Did this noise start sinse the new chain went on?If so Id be looking there first.Who put it on,and was it done properly? Is it rivited up correctly, and are the sprockets bolted on properly? Is the rear wheel correctly aligned, and does the chain have any lube on it?

Thanks for your quick replies!
The noise still occurs under breaking. The pads were new about 1k ago. I put the new chain and sprockets on, so I'll go over them and check all links. checked the sprockets and they're torqued up right. I checked the wheel bearings and they seemed fine, but I'll check again, If it was to be wheel bearings would that not make the noise constant? Thanks for the help guys! Andyc87 |

I have a list of things to check now, I get on to it on Saturday and let you know what the problem is, I also thought he speed sensor could be fouled and bits of magnet rolling in the casing!?
