Race Licence Update. - SV650.org

Some of you have been following my progress as I try to race in a Mini Twin series against able-bodied racers. For the past two years the ACU have said NO. However, last season I competed in hill-climbs, sprints and twisty sprints, didn't fall off or explode and have continued to ride track days. Today I got a letter through saying that the ACU have taken these points into consideration and have approved my application for a Road Race licence to compete with Thundersport Ltd at approved races. So, I will look to compete in a number of rounds in the series and see how this season progresses. Main aim, to finish all races, not cause any issues for other riders, and have a lot of fun doing so. Thanks to all those who have and continue to support me and The Bike Experience (which will be starting up again at the end of April for the 2012 season).

Excellent. Out of interest why wouldn't they let you compete?

They thought that because I was paralysed I would be a hazard to other racers. There were issues with starting, stopping and riding......so not a lot left outside those areas!

I can understand the starting thing but nothing else.

We had a R6 rider at our club with one arm, he was bloody fast too.
