New tyre just gone on the back, the bike is clean, and now it's raining. Guess I'll have to save the fun of a scrubbing in session for later.

Heh yeah wet is not fun on new tyres. I hadn't ridden my bike in over a year and due to a lack of time I put a brand new front tyre on then had to drive it to MOT station in the pouring rain that day...
I was clenched the entire 15 mile journey and don't think I took a corner at over 15mph ![]() |

I never get the tires roughened up enough and remain too smooth and don't feel grippy, our tarmac in Malta has no grit and doesn't encourage grip. Would manually rubbing a file against it help?

I would think a quick rub over with some coarse sandpaper would do the job, just needs something to get rid of the glaze left behind by the releasing agent.
