Default Clicking noise from engine

Hi, I own my SV only for a week and done about 500 miles. What I have noticed during last maybe 200 miles is that there has appeared some kind of a ticking noise (no power lost). I think that for first 300 miles the sound wasnīt there, that it really started to appear about 200 miles ago and itīs getting more and more loud pretty much with every mile. Itīs not there when the engine is cold, only when itīs warmed and only when the engine is under the load (constant speed or accelerating, when accelerating itīs louder) not when Iīm of the gas and not when idleing. It reminds me a sound of badly or not adjusted valves but I guess that this would not appear so abruptly and would not be getting worse so quickly.

Itīs 2003 650s with 24t miles on clock with service history. The engine oil level is fine. When I bought it the collant level was a little bit low, so I add some demineralised water and it keeps the level since. I did the snorkel removing mod about 300 miles ago but I guess that this has nothing to do with it.

Iīve read many threads about knocking, rattling and ticking noises from SV650īs engine (a bit disturbing to find so many) but none of them looked much similar or was lacking a solution. Most likely problem sounded to be a chain but I am quite confident that the sound is coming out from somewhere of the intake of the engine. I tried different gas stations (only decent brands - shell, esso, etc.) and no difference.

Thank you for any advice and I hope this will be just some minor and cheap repair.

I live in south-east London so if you know about any decent bike mechanic (shop) or any of you would be willing to help with this, would be really grateful.

more than likely to be the cam chain/cam chain tensioners. they are a tickety engine anyway. still would be worth just to reassure yourself to get them looked at.

Very quick response! Thanks! So you think that this could appear so quickly and getting louder and louder just within 200 miles? And how quickly should I get it replaced (if it would be it?) or how many miles can I still do? What could possibly go wrong if I will miss the right moment to change it? Cost of replacement?

South-east London, Lewisham. But having no problem to go within 10 or so miles radius.

shout out to the soho massive section on here
also get the cam chain checked sooner rather than later, bad things happen when they go

Clicking noise can also originate from a leaky exhaust, I didn't believe it, but there's been a couple of posts about it.

I could only find this one a the moment.

Spannerman can't be that far from you, if you can't sort it out yourself

New CCT's are about Ģ75 each, but cheaper than a new engine
