Just got an 1999 SV650 after 20 year gap. Mechanic advised I lose the Maxxis asap.
No idea about modern tyres. 2 or 3k miles a year. Sunday rideouts, maybe a track day in the summer. Metzelers were the thing in my day (LC 350) ![]() |

i'm from the same era
![]() ![]() the maxxis aren't that bad TBH and depending on how much tread there is on them i would be inclined to keep them on if the bike is just a sunday tool. |

I have been using Pirelli Angel ST tyres and they are excellent for fast road use and they go the distance too. They heat up quickly and provide great grip especially in the wet. 2800 miles done on them and so far no where near the limit yet
Defo worth a look, i think they are £199 fully fitted, ride in/out too ![]()

I only had problems with them in the wet. In the dry i noticed no difference, i do ride rather sedate most of the time though.
