I think its about time I get a set made up before I damage my hearing anymore.
So any advice or suggestions for where people have been before and what are they like to use long term? How much noise do they block out, what can you hear once you have them? In the past I have worked backstages at gigs ect would be they suitable for that? Thanks. |

I have a set, from Ultimate Ear they work fine and last a long time. I did get a set at a race meeting and they were not of the same quality. Personally I find them better than the foam ones.

I've got two pairs.
One for work and one for the bike. They are really comfy and you do forget they are there ![]() They work differently to the disposable ones and do let you hear what's happening around you so don't block everything out. I'll admit that I've used mine daily at work more than on the bike as the bike doesn't get used as much though. If they can kill the sound of a quarter inch router cutting a kitchen work top or the sound of a concrete breaker to a comfortable level, they work for me ![]() I have the details of who made them for me in my office, so ill post them up later. I had two impressions made at the thunder sprint last year (mine and the mrs) so I got them for £50 a pair. Note for self employed here...ppe is 100% tax deductable... ![]() Last edited by speedplay; 05-04-12 at 09:20 PM. Reason: wanky iphone post |

I have a pair but cannot use them for the bike. They sit too proudly and rest against the liner of my helmet, which then transfers all the vibrations straight down my ear which just gives me wind noise over any other noise. I find foam sparkplug type are much better for me on a bike they cut wind noise but I can still hear the bike clearly.
I use mine for work which do a great job as I need to get them in and out a lot. My job involves working gigs so they would be fine for you.

I've got ultimate ear plugs as well and like speedplay i actually use them at work and it certainly keeps the noise of a hammer drill/leccy tile cutter/angle grinder down to a nice level.

My custom earplugs are vented, and are rubbish on the VRaptor, but then I suppose it a bit hard to drown out the noise of two lump hammers beating you in the head! They do ok on the SV.
They were great at work drowning out the masses of machinery though. They do get a bit of getting used to in a helmet as they can sometimes not quite seat in your earflaps properly... They weren't ultimate ears, I've linked the company before on here, but theyre not to hand, right now, weorth the cost....free ![]()

Right,
Sorry for the cacky post earlier, just re read it and decided the iphone isnt the best to post from... I got my plugs from a guy called Gerald Marsden who has the company:- Hearing ReSolutions The guy was a great help, plugs fit perfectly under my lid with no issues at all. Hearing ReSolutions, 01204655530 Also ultimate ear site:- http://www.ultimateear.com/ Cant vouch for these as I have never used them but know others that have. A little question from me if I may to those with them.
I have to stick foam plugs right into my lug ole to get the to work the best. Do any custom plugs go in very far or don't they need to? |
