Metro free papers are full of ads for it going on about free music. When I looked on site it says you have to buy tracks/playlists. Is there something I'm not getting?

You can listen to free stuff on it as well as buy stuff.

By listening to stuff do you mean 'live' on line via WiFi or your internet connection? Not downloading to keep on phone?

Cheers, just one more techno noob question. When streaming does it come out of your contract plan? If so does it use loads of your data? Or do you need to use a free WiFi connection? I have 750mb included and never use hardly any. Sorry for being so fick!

I pay for Spotify. Genuinely one of the best models out there:
Free - 10 hours a month, with adverts, streamed over wifi / 3G. You can listen, for free, to a huge variety of music to see if you like it. You can listen to a whole album, or playlist without looking for each track. Unlimited - As above, but no Adverts, and no limit. Premium, put all your albums you like into playlists, and put them as availible offline, and you can listen to whatever you want on your phone, even on the underground / in the car. Quality stuff. This is a service that I really like, I love finding new music and audio, yesterday I synced up some stuff and spent the trip to work on the train listening to a Robbin Williams stand up comedy set that was pure genius. All I had to do was find it 5 minutes before I left the house, sync it to the phone and walk out the door. That, to my mind, is worth paying for. Jambo

Basically, if it's free, you get adverts every 3 or 4 songs. You are allowed to listen to the same song up to 5 times in a month then you have to wait until the start of a new month. If you pay then you get unlimited listens.
Regardless of free/pay, you pay for data usage if you stream Spotify over 3G. Wi-fi is free unless you pay for hotspot use. If you have Virgin Media and have a certain package, they give you Spotify free for 3 months. You can then create a playlist with all the songs you want, transfer it to your phone and use off line, saving you streaming. |
