Default B740?

Can someone give me a rating on the B740 from Crawick to Crawfordjohn.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=...sz=11&t=m&z=11

I've never ridden it as I always take the A797 or A702, I'm just wanting to know if its worth going along instead of the other two.

Awh I need to get a life I'm spending my lunchtimes looking at google maps.

I've got about 15 different routes set out already. I've got a couple for march in mind, but I'll not post anything till nearer the time and we can do our usual votes... Unless someone wants to come up with routes we can go...

Nice road. Well surfaced last time a used it, but Scotlands had a few pretty harsh winters since then. Like a lot of roads that run from Lanark way over towards Kilmarnock/Ayr/Preswick way, it's a twisty road but good open visibility, so you get plenty warning where the corners are going.

It goes kind of single track for a while as it drops into the valley at the south end, and gets squished between the hill and the river, but only a metre or so narrower than the bit with centre lines, more unpainted than single track, and no worse than the road past Loch Laggan that you did last year.

Sheep are suicidal though.
