Default If I just got more than 16l of fuel into a Curvy?

Would the logical conclusion be that the BP petrol Station at Hooley on the A23 is serving short measures, or at least their pump isn't calibrated correctly?

The tank size is 16l isn't it? I put 16.03l into the bike - I'd been on the solid amber for about 12.5m, so the tank was fairly empty, but I always fuel on the kickstand with the bike tilted over a little, rather than stiting on and trying to fuel.

Should I complaint to someone, or is this in the usual parameters for a fuel delivery?

16 Litre is probably its safe working level. You can get more than 5 Litre in a petrol can but they are sold as 5 LTR.

Nope 16 is about right, and you would have had about 1l in the bottom of the tank (usually full of rust)

I must admit, my suspicions were partly that it's a good half litre more than I've ever managed to squeeze in before....... typically even running up to 10m or so on solid amber before, I've only managed typically 15-15.2l before, to so exceed the previous "best".

I'd always assumed a 16l specified max fit for a curvy (18l for a pointy?) was a theoretical volume max. I think I'm going to have to bungee a spare tank to the pillion and deliberately "run out" to see how much further I can push it.....

If I were to fuel sitting on the bike - how much more could I squeeze in?

I have heard that it is possible to modify the fuel filler cap with a breather hole that allows you to fill the tank to the brim. Have any of you heard of this or done it? I would be most interested in seeing the results if you have done this.

then when you tip the bike on its sidestand it may leak out the cap if the seal is not perfect.

16L as per spec but there is abt 1L above the cap inlet that is lower than the top of the tank, you can get more in if you slosh the tank L<>R when filling but is it realy a big issue...
