Default Secret to economical mpg.

RAIN----Surprising just how much more economical your fuel consumption becomes when it is raining and you ride a bit more gently. I went out today and got 62.2mpg,just riding to the conditions.

I now know how a certain you lady gets such fantastic fuel figures considering it never seems to stop raining there

it's simple. the more/quicker you turn the throttle the less you get add into that lack bike maintenance and it can make it worse even a misaligned chain can knock loads off.

I don't really see a huge difference when I ride hard or gently tbh. Did a week of commuting at 70mph on the motorway and got 55mpg and the next week took the twistier route and wasn't exactly economical with the throttle and averaged 52mpg... imo for the extra fun involved I'm happy to take a 3mpg hit.

Who might that be then?

I think my secret is not riding hard on the revs everywhere, I can't cope with the vibrations (my hands that is ) but my purse doesn't complain. I don't tootle everywhere but I do try to be as smooth as possible. Sometimes the hooligan mood surfaces then I do enter the higher rev range cos the adrenaline stops me from thinking about my hands muahaha . But the weather's not been amazing so I think you have a point about the rain DT!

Looking back on my fuelly, best I ever got was 76.4mpg, in January! I think weather might have played an important part in that one haha. I more recently got 69 on a trip up Scotland...no idea how cos that was a belter of a rideout.

I might get 50 if i'm gentle, commuting 40 max! (Granted I'm leaving black lines at times)

I'm lacking that hormone...what's it called again...testosterone, that's it!

Probably something to do with weight.

There's an inversely proportional relationship to fun vs fuel economy.
