Default Ballpark price for new tyres?

Hi everyone

Sorry for the basic question, I've done a bit of searching but couldn't quite find up to date info on this.

I'm a pretty new rider and need a new pair of tyres for my SV, I'd been expecting to pay about £200 for a decent pair but all the quotes I've got have been around £270 for Conti Road Attacks, Motions, Pirelli Angels, Diablos.

Are these fair prices? If not can anyone recommend somewhere decent? I'm in Moreton in Marsh so can get to Cheltenham, Gloucester, Oxford...

Thanks

£270 sounds pretty high for some of those. I got a pair of Angel STs fitted earlier this year for £209, ride in, ride out (in Scotland so no use to you but there'll always be somewhere more local to you doing a deal). As far as I recall Avons and a few others were roughly similar but Roadsmarts and PR3s were more expensive. For loose wheels you should pay less still. Just requires a few phone calls to see what's out there.

Phone around, ask for prices both ride-in ride-out, and to loose wheels if you are capable of removing the wheels yourself.

Do NOT order tyres on ebay without checking what local garages will charge you to fit them. Many places make their profit selling tyres, not on fitting, so will charge more to fit a set of tyres you supply, than ones that they supply. It's the same amount of work for them either way, so they expect to make a profit.

Contrary to popular opinion this is not because they're crooks and vagabonds, it's because they expect to make a profit while they're at work.

I paid £239 for My Rosso II tyres. That's ride in, Ride out at Saltire Suzuki

Pirelli had a £25 cashback offer at the time. £214 for new tyres is quite a bargain i think

Best to call up a few bike shops and get some quotes!

Got a set of Michelin Pilot Powers in 120/60 & 160/60 ZR17's for £159 delivered from mytyres.co.uk. A local tyre fitter fitted & balanced them to loose wheels for me for £10 a tyre.

Not the most up to date but perfect for the FZR400RR they are going on and same sizes as SV650.
