Unhappy Sinking feeling when cornering SV650S '02 Curvy

Howdo all,

Been riding for the first time in 5 months last weekend and although yeah i might be abit out of practice with my bike I am having a horrible sinking feeling to the bike when cornering. Never had this feeling before but it's as if the bike is about ready to slide from under me and all I want to do is right the bike instantly. I was perhaps thinking it might be the fork oil? When im at a stand still I can liturally push the bikes front suspension almost all the way to the crown clamps. Im only 75kg (165lbs) Should I really be able to max out the forks? If it's not that what else might it be? I have checked tyres for pressure, buldging, soft spots etc. They seem to be in a tip top state, checked bearings for play and so far there all tight and smooth. Checked clamps for loose/movement of the forks and again all seems to be solid. 26k on the clock too so i wouldn't of thought new springs already surely?

The stock fork springs are too soft, but it'll ride okay until you start pushing it. Shouldn't be able to compress them that easily though, might be worth opening them up and seeing that the springs are intact and both spacer tubes are still there! is the back shock okay? At this age the original should be on its way out. once they start going they can die pretty quickly.

Cheers for advice, I must admit it's an all weather bike, as last year it was my main method of transport, so your probably right about the back going aswell, road grime loves to chew bikes up. Will get it checked out in the next coming week once I have a few parts on order (just incase).

look for busted fork seals as well, maybe loosen and re-tighten fork tops at max extension to make sure the air hasn't escaped.
