Obviously the riders are of a different breed, but if you want a bike to bike sort of comparison most of the bike magazines have done one at some point towards the end of a season, and probably will again this season. I know superbike did a road vs superstock vs superbike on the BMW S1000RR, i think it was ayrton badovini's and possibly Marco melandri, as i vaigly remember the writer saying something about the bike being set up for a very small person, or words to that effect........migdet?

Superstock around 190-200 BSB 220 seems to be number bandied with no rider aids Road superbikes about 230 with limited rider aids (ABS and thats about it) WSB **** knows, Aprilia claim about 250 (aka MotoGP power levels) with rider aids A lot does depend on the nut at the helm stretching the throttle cables

I did a little research on offshore trip some years back because a petrolhead that's a fan of these things with trainingwheels on(cars) said that some or another Porsche, Ferrari(go in a shop and buy cars) etc was so much faster than bikes, being a bike guy I disagreed on general principal.
The thing I used to meassure things was short circuit tracks, the laptimes a wsbk, wss, wsb stock 1000, stock 600 bike up against touring cars, porsche cup etc etc on the same tracks, I only checked dry conditions, the car guy didn't research and put down that card. You could do the same thing and ad irish roadracing tracks aswell. Oh, even stock 1000 bikes are faster then the cars on the same track. Last edited by speedyandypandy; 12-09-12 at 06:16 PM. |
