Hi Guys,
Anyone got any advice on what I could expect to sell a 2007 Cat D write off SV for? 10,000 miles on the clock in black. Some damage to the exhaust and the right hand footpeg/ crash bung. Im debating whether to take my bike back off the insurance company or whether it would be worth it with wanting to buy a new bike. cheers, Ross |

I buy salvage both car and bike, I wouldn't pay anymore than 7 - 8 Hundred in damaged state.
Reason being a vehicle is only worth really half of its value due to being on the register. |

A vehicle is worth what people are willing to pay for it. I'd reckon it'd sell for £1500 if patched up. Never, ever have I seen a vehicles true worth halved due to being "on the register".

My bike is a repaired Cat D, I didn't pay half and I wouldn't expect to sell for half its value.

It's true that it's only worth what's somebodys prepared to pay, I agree with that totally.
To an insurance company or an individual like myself in the trade its it's worth no more than half somewhere I've got some paperwork that states a lot of insurance companies will only pay up to 1/3rd of the vehicles value if it is involved in another accident. in genral and i say again in genral ,what money you lose keeping the bike an insurance company is paying you out for, is less than the money you can make keeping it and doing something with it (fixing or breaking)
most insurance work on the 30-33% rule for deduction from your final settlement for the bike if you want to keep it |

Is Category D not the lightest damage? (cosmetic only?) - are people not interested in taking them as project bikes for race only or the like, surely you could get more money if that is the case?
