Default Pyramid plastics undertray opinions?

I've just seen one of these up for sale on another thread and I'm interested in getting one for my pointy.

Has anyone on the forum used one?

They look pretty good quality on the website but then, these things often do!

An honest review from a real end-user would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

Haven't got one myself but saw one on another orger's bike a few days ago, looks nice. For what it is I don't think you can or need to say much more as its only function as far as I know is to look nice!

I've gone for a colour matched metallic blue one. I did think about going for the black but the colour matched one looked superb in the pictures. Let's hope it comes out the right colour blue!

I tried to order a Nitron shock too but their website has a stupid glitch and there's no bugger home. I could get quite grumpy about that.

I'm going to get a shock with the traditional Nitron Turquoise spring. I was going for black on that one too but it's £25 extra and, well, it just wouldn't be a Nitron would it!

Yep. No problem.

It will take a couple of weeks to get here though so don't hold your breath!

I've given up on finding the right SV to buy and modify and decided to mod the one I've got. It makes more sense really, especially when I worked out that I could get a Nitron for the cost of a year's tax and insurance on another bike.

Lord knows what I'm going to do about losing the fairing. I reckon theres a good 10kg of extraneous steel and plastic in a pointy top fairing. That bracket looks like something Brunel would use to anchor his boat...

Looks like I bought the Pyramid Plastics undertray too damn quickly...

Other sites offer the undertray with a licence plate holder and other gubbins in a kit but won't just sell the fitting kit seperately. I went back to Ermax who actually make the thing and they were pretty much useless too.

In the end I went for an R&G tail tidy which isn't compatible with the undertray. Unless I get the Dremel on it...

Geez.

I'm not even sure I want to fit the thing now as it doesn't replace the existing it just fits over the top. That's the trouble with idly surfing the net, it can get expensive!

How much did you pay for it? I looked at these undertrays and agred they look nice but at the time decided it was too expensive. Funnily enough I purchased a tail tidy bracket from Beetrootkiller and this wasn't compatible with that undertray without cutting. In fact, I had to do some cutting anyway. Bottom line is I wasn't too bothered. Money on the shock is a better investment though. As for weight, try better tyres. Michelin Pilot Power Pure's are lighter so will probably be a noticeable difference.

I think it was over £120. I later saw it elsewhere for about £40 less with other bits but couldn't find the site again. It's possible that I found an old dead page.

I keep changing my mind as to whether I can be bothered to fit the undertray. It would look very pretty but it would be a ****-load of work to shape and then the fixings will need work.

I'll get the new indicators sorted on the tail tidy first. It says you can re-use the standard items but that would mean they need some new spacers or 2 dozen washers on each one to pack them out.

It's amazing how these things just snowball...
