Curvy seat removal without key?

Ok, so I removed the tail on my sv (curvy) to fit a new rectifier. I put it back together, went for a blast (pleased to have her working again) then realised i wanted some of the tools from under the passenger seat. Problem is, I didn't seat the mechanism properly, so now I can't get the passenger seat off and the key just turns.
How do I release the seat? I have tried brute force but it is strangely one double hard lock.
Any help greatly appreciated (need those tools for work!)

Massive Oops.

I very nearly dropped the seat onto my Ninja once before re-connecting the lock. Now, whenever I disconnect it, I drop a screwdriver into the lock to stop me putting my seat on before i reconnect everything.

Now, if it was the lock end that you didn't re-connect (rather than the latch end), You might be able to take the rider seat off and fish out the lock cable. If you manage to get it, just give it a good tug and your pillion seat will pop off.

If not, the only way out of this i can think of involves a lot of distruction and a new pillion seat.

Are you able to drop the under tray down by undoing the fixings on the subframe, then reach up for the cable? Taking the riders seat off should give you more room too.

funnily enough that's what I was doing this afternoon (but on a GSXR), went in through the undertray, not a major problem.

Ok I'm going to try and get it through the undertray. Failing that, I'm guessing I can drill a hole in it (the undertray) and try and pull it from that? Then lots of filler for said hole. So why on earth is the pillion seat the most secure thing on the sv?! It's harder than I'm hard, Bruce lee for goodness sake......!

Use a pice of coathanger wire. Go in under the seat from the left hand side, hook the mechanism and pull it towards you. Takes a bit of fishing about. It's easy to miss seating the lock cable guide when reassembling the rear bodywork.

Try this first.

I recently managed this by lifting the front edge of the pillion seat and managing to hook the cable as noted.

Alternatively, remove the rider seat and the first couple of screws from the rear left seat panel, you may be able to pull it away from the sub-frame enough to reach the cable where the lock is as suggested by svrich.

Got it. Didn't have a wire hanger (blame ikea), so two man job with my mate holding open the passenger seat, whilst I went in with the needle nose pliers.
